Junior Eloise Belanger and sophomore Kenisha Liu of the UCLA women's swimming and diving team have been named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week for Feb. 5-11.

Liu played a pivotal role in snapping an 11-meet losing streak to crosstown rival USC Friday, as the Bruins and Trojans ended in a 150-150 tie. The sophomore tallied two big individual wins, clocking in at 1:45.42 in the 200 Free to hold off a trio of hard-charging Trojans, and later touching the wall at 48.43 in the 100 Free. Then, with the Bruins in need of a win to force at least an overall draw, the 200 Free Relay did just that—with Liu swimming the lead leg. On top of securing the first tie in series history, the Bruin quartet completed its run in a time of 1:28.91 to establish a new school record.

There was no stopping Belanger when crosstown rival USC came to Spieker Aquatics Center over the weekend. The junior notched wins on both 1-Meter (306.23) and 3-Meter (343.35), to help the Bruins snap an 11-meet losing streak to the Trojans with a 150-150 tie. Her personal-best 3-Meter score included a 205B that netted the Canadian a score of 72.00. Then, when the teams met a day later for a Platform competition, Belanger shined again with a five-dive score of 262.88 to secure a sweep of all three events.

This is both Belanger's and Liu's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week of the season and of their career.
