MARINA DEL REY, Calif. – The UCLA women's rowing program opened its 2018 spring season with a home meet against Stanford and San Diego State on Saturday morning.
 
The Bruins earned a first-place finish in the varsity eight race and finished second in the second varsity eight. UCLA also competed in third varsity eight, varsity four and novice four events.
 
UCLA's first-place 2V8+ crew posted a time of 7:06.10, crossing the finish line ahead of Stanford (7:08.56) and San Diego State (7:23.78).
 
The varsity eight crew registered a final time of 7:18.30, trailing Stanford (6:43.30) and finishing ahead of San Diego State (7:29.00).
 
UCLA raced a pair of crews in the third varsity eight race. The Bruins 'A' boat posted a first-place time of 7:26.00, while the 'B' crew registered a third-place time of 7:31.63 (trailing San Diego State's time of 7:28.96).
 
UCLA's varsity four boat had breakage at approximately the 750-meter mark and was unable to finish. Stanford's 'A' crew won that race with a time of 7:57.50. In addition, UCLA raced a pair of novice four crews that posted times of 8:49.60 and 9:25.60.
 
The Bruins will host a scrimmage event against Loyola Marymount on Saturday, March 10, before taking on Oregon State in Marina del Rey on Saturday, March 17.
