Mace Earns Second Call-Up to Full National Team

UCLA's leading scorer in 2017 joins the U.S. in training for upcoming friendlies against Mexico.

UCLA junior Hailie Mace has replaced an injured Casey Short on the 22-player U.S. Women's National Team roster for the upcoming friendlies against Mexico.

Mace plays for the national team as a defender and played as a forward for the Bruins in 2017, leading the team in scoring with 15 goals and 33 points while earning first-team All-America honors. She recently finished a training camp with the U.S. U-23 WNT in Portland, Ore. This will be Mace's second call-up to the senior side after first training with the U.S. team prior to the 2018 SheBelieves Cup.

Short initially injured her ankle against France in the USA's second game of the 2018 SheBelieves Cup and suffered a minor setback recently while training with her club side and is not yet ready for international play.

The USA will take on Mexico on April 5 in Jacksonville, Fla. (7 p.m. ET; FS1 and UDN) and April 8 in Houston, Texas (12:30 CT; FOX). U.S. WNT head coach Jill Ellis will name 18 players to suit up for each of the matches.

Mace joins two other former UCLA players on the roster - defender Abby Dahlkemper and forward Mal Pugh.
