LAS VEGAS - The Bruins are tied for fifth after the first round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate at Southern Highlands Golf Club, recording a 2-over 290 on Monday. UCLA is just eight shots behind first-place Florida.
 
Junior Cole Madey was the top finisher for the Bruins after 18 holes, shooting a 1-under 71, putting him in a tie for 15th. He made four birdies on #4, #5, #12 and #14, adding three bogeys.
 
Senior Tyler Collier shot an even-par 72 and is tied for 23rd. His round was keyed by an eagle on the par-5 3rd hole, adding a pair of birdies on #12 and #14 to go with four bogeys.
 
Sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara is tied for 33rd following a 1-over 73. He made a pair of birdies on #5 and #11, one bogey and one double. Freshman Eddy Lai is tied for 41st at 2-over 74. He posted two birdies on the fifth and 16th, two bogeys and a double. Freshman Devon Bling is tied for 65th (+6, 78), notching two birdies on #5 and #13, two bogeys and three doubles.

The Bruins begin round two on Tuesday at 10:20 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Bling, Lai, Yoshihara, Collier and Madey. Live scoring will be available here.
