LOS ANGELES - Senior Selina Ta'amilo and redshirt sophomore Rachel Garcia combined on a three-hit shutout of the top-ranked team in the nation, and for the third game in a row, the third-ranked Bruins scored a run in the fourth inning, with it holding up on Sunday in a 1-0 victory over Washington at Easton Stadium.

The Bruins complete the sweep and move to 40-3 overall and 15-3 in Pac-12 play, while the Huskies fall to 41-5 and 12-5 in league.

Ta'amilo improved to 10-2 on the season, striking out four in 5 1/3 innings, giving up three hits and two walks. She struck out one apiece in innings two through five, posting 1-2-3 frames in the fourth and fifth, retiring 10 in a row at one point. Garcia came in and retired the last five batters of the game, striking out a pair for her second save of the season.



The Bruins' defense was on full display in the first few innings, including a clutch inning-ending double play in the first and a diving catch by senior right fielder Madeline Jelenicki in the fourth. 

Then in the bottom of the fourth, where the Bruins scored a run on Friday and two on Saturday, UCLA would rally with two outs to net the game's lone run. Freshman Briana Perez led off with an infield single, moved to second one out later on a walk to Garcia, advanced to third on a fly out by junior Brianna Tautalafua and scored on a single to right off the bat of sophomore Bubba Nickles to make it 1-0.

UCLA takes a step out of Pac-12 play next weekend, hosting a round-robin tournament with Oklahoma State and South Dakota next Friday and Saturday at Easton Stadium. The Bruins will play OSU (4:30 p.m.) and USD (7 p.m.) on Friday and OSU (2 p.m.) and USD (4:30 p.m.) again on Saturday. Free live audio will be available at UCLABruins.com.
