Colton, Calif. native was a combined 4-0 last week as UCLA defeated pair of ranked opponents

LOS ANGELES – UCLA redshirt sophomore Jada Hart has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for the second time this season and the fourth time in her career, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Hart, a Colton, Calif. native, went 2-0 in both singles and doubles last week, leading UCLA to victories over No. 10 Pepperdine and No. 47 USC.

The standout week extended what has been a strong stretch run for Hart, who is unbeaten in her last eight singles matches and last four doubles matches, pushing her record to 24-8 in singles and 27-11 in doubles.

In this week's Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, Hart was tabbed as the No. 30 player in singles while the duo of Hart and senior Terri Fleming were ranked No. 6. Both those figures are season highs.

Hart was a pivotal figure in both of UCLA's wins last week.

Against Pepperdine, she teamed up with Fleming to take a 6-4 decision on court one to help the Bruins win the doubles point. She then knotted the score at 3-3 in singles with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 triumph on court two over No. 16 Ashley Lahey, the Waves' top-ranked player, as UCLA overcame a 3-1 deficit to take the 4-3 win in Malibu.

On Saturday against crosstown rival USC, she once again won her doubles decision before dispatching No. 91 Rianna Valdes 6-3, 6-2 on court two to clinch the win for the host Bruins.

Hart's selection was UCLA's 22nd all-time Pac-12 Women's Player of the Week award and the third this season. Hart was also honored on Feb. 13, while sophomore Ena Shibahara was the conference choice on Mar. 27.

The Bruins open up postseason play this weekend at the Pac-12 Championships in Ojai, Calif. UCLA, the #2 seed in the tournament, has its first contest on Thursday, Apr. 26 at 2:00 p.m. against the winner of Wednesday's play-in game between #7 Oregon and #10 Utah.
