SAN FRANCISCO -- UCLA's Martin Redlicki has been named the Pac-12 Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2018, the conference announced Tuesday. In place to recognize accomplishments on and off the field of play, the award is representative of the sport's most outstanding senior student-athlete.

Redlicki has been a force on the court and in the classroom, recently picking up his 100th career singles victory while holding a cumulative 3.61 grade-point average (GPA). Currently the No. 1 singles player according to Oracle/ITA, the Boca Raton, Fla. native is in line for the third Pac-12 All-Academic honor and fourth ITA Scholar-Athlete selection of his career. Redlicki is also a three-time All-Pac-12 performer and was named the ITA Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2015.

The political science and communications double major has also been one of the nation's best on the doubles courts, capturing the NCAA Doubles Championship with Mackenzie McDonald in 2016. He has twice been one half of the Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year, joining McDonald in 2016 and Evan Zhu in 2017. Redlicki is also looking to become a three-time All-American. He currently holds career records of 105-30 (singles) and 81-27 (doubles).

Redlicki is the fifth Bruin to capture the award since it was established in 2007-08, joining Mathieu Dehaine (2008), Michael Look (2009), Clay Thompson (2014) and Dennis Mkrtchian (2015).

Upon nomination by each Pac-12 institution, a Scholar-Athlete of the Year is named in each of the conference's 24 sponsored sports by a committee of Pac-12 staff members at the conclusion of each sport's regular season.

In order to be eligible for selection, a nominee must be a senior (in athletics eligibility) on track to receive a degree, hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, have participated in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests in the sport and hold a minimum of one year in residence at the institution.

Redlicki and the Bruins, seeded first at the upcoming Pac-12 Championships in Ojai, Calif., will face the winner of No. 8 Utah and No. 9 Arizona in a quarterfinal match set for Thursday at noon. All action will take place at Libbey Park.
