INDIANAPOLIS - UCLA head men's golf coach Derek Freeman has been named to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee. Freeman's term will run from Sept. 1, 2018 through Aug. 31, 2022.

In addition to evaluation, selection and seeding of the teams for the NCAA Tournament Regional fields, Freeman, who is in his 11th season as UCLA's head coach, will serve as a site representative during the Regional rounds of play and at the Division I Men's Golf Championships final site.

"It is a wonderful honor to be selected for the NCAA Golf Committee," Freeman said. "As a committee member, it is our job to provide the best NCAA Championship experience for the participating student-athletes. I look forward to working with the other members to further the Championship. With the new expanded coverage on the Golf Channel, it is a very exciting time to be on the committee."

Freeman and the Bruins, who are ranked 19th in the nation, have finished in the Top 4 in eight of their 10 tournaments this season, including a victory at the Southwestern Invitational (Feb. 26-27). UCLA has finished under par in six of its 10 events and is 73-under par in 29 rounds. In 10 seasons under Freeman, the Bruins have claimed 24 tournament victories, earned 18 All-America honors and won two Jack Nicklaus Awards, winning the National Championship in 2008.

The Bruins end the regular season April 13-15 at the El Macero Classic.
