GULF SHORES, Ala. -- No. 1 UCLA defeated crosstown rival and three-time defending champion, No. 5 USC (27-14), 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to advance to tomorrow's contender's bracket final against No. 3 Hawai'i. The win by the Bruins was the fourth-consecutive and fifth win this season over the Trojans and eliminated USC from the tournament.

The Bruins, who improved to 38-4 on the year, will now face No. 3 Hawai'i (37-4) on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. PT/10:30 a.m. CT and will be televised live on ESPN2 and all five courts streamed on ESPN3.

The Bruins put the first point on the board on court three when junior Zana Muno and sophomore Savvy Simo defeated USC's Joy Dennis and Cammie Dorn in straight sets, 21-17, 21-18.

UCLA would take a 2-0 lead after freshman Megan Muret and junior Izzy Carey got their winning groove back, beating the Trojans' Jenna Belton and Maja Kaiser in three sets, 21-18, 15-21, 15-10.

USC got on the board with a three-set win on court two as Terese Cannon and Sammy Slater defeated sophomore Lily Justine and junior Sarah Sponcil, 19-21, 21-16, 15-10.

The Bruins secured the dual win on court four as freshman Mac May and senior Elise Zappia defeated USC's Haley Hallgren and Alexandra Poletto, 21-18, 15-21, 15-9.
