BRYAN, TEXAS - The 26th-ranked Bruins were one of only four teams to shoot par or better on Monday during day one of the NCAA Bryan Regional, as UCLA is fourth following an even-par 288 at the Traditions Club. The Bruins trail only No. 2 Texas A&M (-9, 279), No. 11 Baylor (-6, 282) and No. 14 Clemson (-5, 283), leading fifth-place South Carolina by five (+5, 293).

Junior Cole Madey fired a 3-under 69 and is one off the individual lead held by Chandler Phillips and Brandon Smith of Texas A&M and Cooper Dossey of Baylor (-4, 68). Starting on the 10th hole, Madey began with a birdie, balancing his books on the back nine with a birdie on No. 15 and two bogeys on No. 12 and 13. On the front nine, he got to 4-under with birdies on four of his first seven holes (No. 1, 4, 5 and 7) before a bogey on No. 8 and a par on the ninth to wrap up his round.

Sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara and freshmen Devon Bling and Eddy Lai are all tied for 22nd (+1, 73). Yoshihara made five birdies (No. 10, 12, 5, 6 and 8), four bogeys and a double. Bling had three birdies on No. 10, 13 and 6 to go with four bogeys, while Lai posted three birdies on No. 14, 15 and 3 with four bogeys. Senior Tyler Collier is tied for 59th (+5, 77), making three birdies on No. 18, 5 and 8, four bogeys and two doubles.

The Bruins begin their second round off the 10th tee on Tuesday at 8 a.m. CT/6 a.m. PT in the order of Collier, Lai, Bling, Yoshihara and Madey. Live scoring will be available here.
