SAN FRANCISCO – UCLA sophomore Jeremy Ydens has been named the Pac-12 Baseball Player of the Week for the first time this season, announced the Pac-12 conference on Monday. It is the second time this season a Bruin has won the award as Chase Strumpf earned the honor on April 9.

Ydens, an outfielder from Campbell, Calif., led the UCLA offense that went 4-0 this week in the final regular-season home games for the Bruins, including a three-game sweep of Oregon. He hit .550 (11-20) with a 1.050 slugging percentage over the four contests. Against the Ducks, Ydens led the way batting .571 (8-14) with two home runs, two triples and drove in 10 runs while scoring eight times.

Ydens set a career-high with four RBIs on Tuesday against CSUN and then set his career mark again on Saturday with two home runs and five RBIs in a 15-1 victory versus Oregon. Over the four-game stretch, he drove in at least two runs in each game this week and tied a career-high of three hits three times.

He currently ranks tops during conference play in batting average at .429, while ranking second in slugging at .714 and fourth in on-base percentage at .481. Overall in the Pac-12, Ydens is top-10 in batting average, hits, stolen bases doubles and triples, while 11th in on-base percentage.

Ydens was also named one of the National Players of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.

UCLA will conclude the regular season this week with a three-game Pac-12 series at Oregon State starting on Thursday at 4 p.m. PT. All three games of the series will be televised with the first two on the Pac-12 Network and the regular-season finale on ESPNU.
