2018 European Tour

VIENNA, Austria - After spending three days in Prague, the UCLA women's volleyball team ventured south to Vienna on June 20. Following a morning departure from the Czech Republic, the Bruins toured the city center of the Austrian capital for a few hours before traveling to Maribor, Slovenia.

Junior Savvy Simo talked about her trip to Vienna.

.com: What were your thoughts on Vienna?
SS: It was beautiful. I thought the main government buildings near the museum square were the most impressive. I also thought the design of the city with the church in the center was cool.

.com: What did you think of the church?
SS: I've never seen anything like it. The inside was really interesting. It was way bigger and nicer than any church I've been in. The ceilings were crazy, they were so high.

.com: What kind of food did you have?
SS: Mac (May) and I split a prosciutto salad with a caprese salad. We also split a different kind of pasta. It was delicious. Then we got ice cream. I had chocolate with Oreo cake batter.

.com: What was your favorite fun fact?
SS: We learned that the statues of soldiers in the city represented soldiers that had fought in battle. If the horse they were on had one foot up, they were injured in battle. If the horse had two feet up, they were killed in battle. I thought that was super cool.

.com: What was your overall impression of Vienna?
SS: I loved it. It was worth the drive. It was a totally different feeling than being in Prague.
