Three members of the UCLA women's soccer team will play in the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, which takes place Aug. 5-24 in France. Representing the U.S. squad are sophomores Ashley Sanchez and Viviana Villacorta. Freshman midfielder Maricarmen Reyes will represent Mexico. Sophomore Delanie Sheehan is also currently in France as an alternate for the U.S. squad.

Sanchez, Villacorta and Sheehan each started at least 10 games last season. Villacorta and Sheehan played in all 25 contests, and Sanchez in 24. Sanchez ranked third on the team in scoring with 24 points (six goals and a UCLA freshman-record 12 assists). Sheehan scored five goals and added three assists in her rookie campaign, and Villacorta recorded four assists.

Reyes was a member of Mexico's National Team squad that placed second at the 2016 U-17 CONCACAF Championships. In 2018, she helped Mexico capture gold at the U-20 CONCACAF Championships.

The U.S. was drawn into Group C and opens the tournament on Monday, Aug. 6 against Japan. The match will kick off at 10:30am PT at Stade Guy-Piriou in Concarneau. Game two will take place at the same venue on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 10:30am PT against Paraguay, and the final game in group play will be on Monday, Aug. 13 at 4:30am PT against Spain at Stade du Clos Gastel in Dinan-Léhon. All three games will be televised on FS2 and are also available online on FOX Sports GO.

Mexico opens the tournament plays in Group B and will open the tournament on Sunday, Aug. 5 against Brazil. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30am PT, and the game will be televised live on FS1. Mexico will resume play on Wednesday, Aug. 8 against North Korea at 7:30am PT on FS2 before concluding group play on Sunday, Aug. 12 against England at 4:30am PT on FS1.

The knock-out stage begins on Thursday, Aug. 16, with the semifinals being held on Monday, Aug. 20 and the Championship match on Friday, Aug. 24.

UCLA opens its season on Friday, Aug. 17 at 7pm against Long Beach State in the grand opening of Wallis Annenberg Stadium.
