The USGA announced that rising senior Lilia Vu will represent the USA in the 2018 World Amateur Team Championships, which will take place Aug. 29 through Sept. 1 at the Carton House Golf Club in Dublin, Ireland.

Vu, the Bruins' all-time leader in victories, is No. 2 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, having recently spent 18 consecutive weeks at No. 1 starting at the beginning of March. A member of the victorious 2018 USA Curtis Cup team in June, Vu has continued her successful play this summer with third-place showings at the Canadian Women's Amateur Championship and the Southern California Women's Amateur Championship.

Vu was the WGCA and Pac-12 Golfer of the Year in her junior season, winning four times to bring her career total to eight.

The winner of the World Amateur Team Championships, a biennial event, is awarded the Espirito Santo Trophy. The WATC is a four-round, stroke-play event, with the best two individual scores from the three-player team counting towards the country's score. Joining Vu on the USA squad are Alabama's Kristen Gillman and Wake Forest's Jennifer Kupcho. The WATC are conducted by the International Golf Federation (IGF). The IGF also conducts the golf competitions in the Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games.
