The Bruins were led by sophomore Nicolas Saveljic who scored a career-high-tying four goals. Freshman Danny Roland played the entire game in the cage for the Bruins, recording a seven saves while allowing five goals.
Saveljic opened the scoring with a shot from the front court (7:29). Casey Conrad would tie it at 1-1 with a shot off the near post (7:09) for Princeton. Saveljic would score his second of the game on a power play (5:38) to make it 2-1 Bruins. Sophomore Quinten Osborne then scored an easy goal (1:56) off an extra pass to push the lead to 3-1. Freshman Ashworth Molthen made it 4-1 with a strike from the front court (0:18), but Alec Mendelsohn painted the corner with just one second remaining to cut the lead to 4-2 at the end of the first period.
Saveljic quickly earned the hat trick with the first goal of the second period (7:02) off a nice one-timer as the Bruins showed off some quick passing. Conrad added his second of the game for Princeton with a power play goal (5:28) to cut the lead to 5-3. Redshirt freshman Peter Lovas netted his first of the game on a power play (4:06) to double up the Tigers, 6-3. Then sophomore Chasen Travisano made it 7-3 with a nearside goal (3:12). Matt Payne scored a power play goal (2:40) to cut the lead to 7-4. But the Bruins' Osborne answered with back-to-back goals to complete a hat trick. His first (2:21) was on a backhanded shot and his second (1:28) was a strong catch and turn at set to score against three defenders as the Bruins entered halftime with a 9-4 advantage.
Senior Kent Inoue scored on a nearside shot (6:48) to open the scoring in the third period and redshirt junior Eric Goldenberg fired a shot from the front court that found the back of the net (5:02) that extended the lead to 11-4. Lovas scored his second of the game (2:43) off a high corner shot from the front court and sophomore Felix Brozyna-Vilim surfaced out of the water and caught a nice pass from Saveljic to score a power play goal from in close (0:38) to make it 13-4. Then Freshman Ashworth Molthen provided a highlight shot from eight meters out, beating the game clock and the Princeton goalie as time expired to give the Bruins a 14-4 lead heading into the final stanza.
Keller Maloney scored on a 6-on-5 opportunity for Princeton to open the scoring in the fourth quarter, trimming the UCLA lead to 14-5. Saveljic scored his fourth of the game on a power play with a low cross-cage shot (3:52). Inoue notched his second of the game (2:34) with a nearside skip shot to make it 16-5. Then Goldenberg netted his second of the game (0:31) from the front court to provide the 17-5 final.

No. 1 UCLA improved to 7-0 on the year with a 16-9 win over No. 17 Brown (3-5) in the Bruins' fourth of five games at the Princeton Invitational on Sunday morning at Denunzio Pool.
The Bruins were led by freshman Ashworth Molthen who scored three goals. Freshman Danny Roland got the start and played the first three quarters tallying 11 saves while allowing four scores. Redshirt junior Jonathan Van De Velde played the fourth quarter, making one stop and surrendering five goals.
UCLA netted the game's first two goals on power plays as sophomores Nicolas Saveljic and Luke Henriksson converted. After a 5-meter penalty shot by Brown trimmed the lead to 2-1, the Bruins took a 4-1 edge into the second quarter off of a front court score from sophomore Chasen Travisano and a power play goal by sophomore Quinten Osborne.
Freshman Ashworth Molthen opened the scoring in the second period with back-to-back goals (front court, penalty) to push the lead to 6-1. But Brown answered with a pair of goals to bring the Bears within 6-3 with 4:34 to go in the half. UCLA notched the period's final four goals to take a 10-3 advantage into halftime. Freshman Matthew Kacura scored his first goal of the game on a penalty shot and Osborne added his second from two meters, followed by back-to-back front court scores from redshirt freshman Bailey Jarvis.
Brown initiated the third quarter's scoring to cut the deficit to 10-4 before UCLA used a 5-0 run to build a 15-4 edge early in the fourth quarter. Molthen completed a hat trick with a goal from the front court to get the run started. Then redshirt sophomore Peter Lovas scored back-to-back goals (6-on-5, penalty) to end the scoring in the third. Senior Austin Rone and Henriksson each scored from the front court to make it 15-4. But the Bears would outscore UCLA 5-1 the rest of the way with only sophomore Felix Brozyna-Vilim scoring from two meters during Brown's scoring streak.
