May led the Bruins with four kills, while Gates was a perfect 3-for-3, as the Bruins were out-hit .378 to .280.
Stanford led wire-to-wire in set two, but the Bruins got some momentum at the end of the second, saving five set points on a Rogers kill and block with redshirt freshman Alexis Light, two May aces and a Cardinal attack error. Stanford would take the second set on its sixth set point, 25-19, to go up 2-0. May again had four kills, while Rogers added three. UCLA led by four as late as 13-9 before Stanford made its run, scoring the next five and leading for the remainder of the match, eventually taking the third set by a score of 25-17. Gates had three kills in the third, while Simo posted four digs, as the Bruins were out-hit .405 to .182.
