LOS ANGELES - No. 9 UCLA captured its fifth straight victory, defeating Oregon, 2-1, at Wallis Annenberg Stadium to improve to 10-3-1, 5-2-0 in Pac-12 play.

Sophomore forward Ashley Sanchez had a hand in both goals, scoring the first goal in the fifth minute and assisting on Kennedy Faulknor's game-winner in the 39th.

The Bruins got on the board early thanks to a steal by Viviana Villacorta, who slotted a perfect pass to Sanchez bolting ahead of the defense. Oregon goalkeeper Halla Hinriksdottir attempted to make a play on the ball but got beat by Sanchez, who dribbled past her and found an opening in the right corner for her fifth goal of the season at the 4:51 mark.

Oregon (7-7-1, 1-6-0) was quick to rebound, however. Just 21 seconds later, Bayley Bruner sent a pass to Jazmin Jackmon on the left side. Jackmon sent a long cross into the box that turned into her first career goal, as it sailed out of Teagan Micah's reach into the right corner for the equalizer.

UCLA regained the lead at 38:13 on a set piece. Sanchez sent a free kick into the box from just in front of the left corner. In heavy traffic, Faulknor got a head on it and sent it past Hinriksdottir for her second goal of the year.

The Ducks made it interesting late in the game, with Emma Eddy just missing high on a shot in the 83rd minute. In the 88th minute, Eddy also had another good look at goal, but Karina Rodriguez slid in to get a foot on Eddy's shot, which popped up easily for Micah to save.

UCLA wraps up its home regular season schedule on Sunday, Oct. 21 against Oregon State. The Bruins will honor seniors Hailie Mace and Julia Hernandez in pregame ceremonies at approximately 11:45 am.
