Salt Lake City, Utah - No. 8 UCLA scored two goals off corner kicks and cruised to its seventh-straight victory, defeating Utah 5-1 to improve to 12-3-1, 7-2-0 in the Pac-12.
The Bruins jumped out to an early lead, scoring on a Karina Rodriguez header off an Ashley Sanchez corner kick at the 3:56 mark. The goal was her second of the season, and the assist extended Sanchez's point-scoring streak to seven games.
UCLA doubled its lead in the 28th minute after Chloe Castaneda banged home a rebounded shot by Delanie Sheehan, Castaneda's second goal this season.
Utah cut into UCLA's 2-0 halftime lead quickly, scoring in the 48th minute after a scrum in the box following a Utah corner kick. Haylee Cacciacarne was credited with the goal after the Bruins were unable to clear the ball out of the box.
Sheehan quickly brought UCLA's lead back to two goals, however taking a nice through ball from Julia Hernandez and beating Utah goalkeeper Carly Nelson to make it 3-1 in the 51st minute. Hernandez had a hand in the Bruins' next goal in the 59th minute, drawing a foul in the box and earning a penalty kick for UCLA. Jessie Fleming smoothly converted the penalty kick for her second score of the season, giving the Bruins a 4-1 lead.
Redshirt freshman Dani Satterwhite became the 14th Bruin player to score a goal this season, completing the scoring in the 88th minute by getting a body on an Olivia Athens corner kick and directing the ball into the back of the net for her first career goal.
