UCLA Baseball Announces 2019 Schedule
October 29, 2018 | Baseball
LOS ANGELES – The UCLA baseball program on Monday announced its 2019 schedule, featuring 56 total games, 31 home contests at Jackie Robinson Stadium, and a number of high-caliber opponents both at home and on the road.
As is the case on an annual basis, UCLA will face some of the top programs in the country this year. The Bruins' scheduled group of opponents includes seven teams who made the NCAA Tournament last year, including three No. 1 seeds, a trio of Super Regionals participants, and two teams who advanced to the College World Series. In all, UCLA's 2018 opponents have combined for 36 national championships.
"We are very excited about the demanding and challenging 2019 schedule we've put together," said UCLA head coach John Savage. "The high-quality programs we're facing in non-conference will help prepare us for Pac-12 play and beyond."
The Bruins open the year with a four-game homestand featuring a series with St. John's from Feb. 15-17 and a midweek showdown with Loyola Marymount on Feb. 19. UCLA then travels to Atlanta, Ga. for its lone non-conference road series of the year at Georgia Tech, Feb. 22-24.
UCLA will once again be featured in the Dodger Stadium College Baseball Classic, highlighted by a matchup with crosstown rival USC at Dodger Stadium on Mar. 10. The Bruins will also host Michigan and Oklahoma State at Jackie Robinson Stadium as part of the tournament.
Other non-conference home series will be played against Sacramento State (Mar. 1-3) and East Carolina (Apr. 12-13).
The Bruins open Pac-12 play on Mar. 15 with a three-game series at home against reigning NCAA Champion Oregon State. UCLA is also scheduled to play host to league rivals Arizona (Mar. 22-24), California (Apr. 18-20), Utah (Apr. 26-28), and 2018 CWS participant Washington (May 17-19).
UCLA will travel for Pac-12 series at USC (Mar. 29-31), Stanford (Apr. 5-7), Arizona State (May 3-5), Washington State (May 17-19), and a regular season-closing set at Oregon (May 23-25).
The Bruins will stay local for its midweek slate this year, facing LMU, CSUN, Pepperdine, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, and Cal State Fullerton. All of those will be home-and-home matchups.
The postseason is scheduled to begin on May 31 with NCAA Regionals. Super Regionals are scheduled for the following weekend, Jun. 7-9, and the College World Series is set for Jun. 15-26 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.
