Ashley Sanchez Earns First-Team All-America Honors
November 29, 2018 | Women's Soccer
UCLA sophomore forward Ashley Sanchez completed a historic 2018 season by earning first-team All-America honors by the United Soccer Coaches.
Sanchez, from Monrovia, Calif., stamped her name atop the UCLA record books by setting five school records in 2018. She tied the school mark for assists in a season with 15 and set new UCLA standards for single-game assists (four), consecutive games with a goal or assist (13 and counting), assists in an NCAA Tournament (seven) and career NCAA Tournament assists (11). Last season, she set a new school freshman record with 12 assists. Already in her career, she has totaled 16 goals and 27 assists (59 points), and her assist total ranks sixth on UCLA's career chart.
The two-time first-team All-Region and All-Pac-12 honoree missed training camp while playing in her second FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, but still led UCLA in all scoring categories in 2018 with 10 goals, 15 assists and 35 points. She ranks second in the nation in total assists and 12th in total points.
