No. 23 UCLA Travels to Loyola Marymount for Season Opener on Tuesday

LOS ANGELES – The (RV/No. 23) UCLA women's basketball team will open the 2018-19 season on Tuesday when the team travels to Loyola Marymount. Tip-off at Gersten Pavilion is set for 7:30 p.m. (PT).

The Bruins led by as many as 23 points and used a 14-5 run to open the second quarter to pull away. Senior guard Japreece Dean led all scorers with 22 points to go along with six assists.
Redshirt freshman Lindsey Corsaro just missed a triple-double, posting 12 points, 10 boards and seven assists. Senior Kennedy Burke scored 16 points and had three blocks, while sophomore Lauryn Miller added 13 points.

The Lions overcame a slow start to defeat Point Loma in an exhibition last Thursday by a final score of 81-53. After trailing by three after one, LMU went on a 12-0 run to open the second stanza and proceeded to outscore Point Loma 19-3 in the frame to lead 34-21 at the half.
Jasmine Jones led all scorers with 16 points to go along with nine rebounds, while Gabby Green racked up 13 points and a game-high seven steals

Tuesday night's matchup marks the 10th meeting between UCLA and Loyola Marymount, and the Bruins have never lost to the Lions, owning a perfect 9-0 record. The last meeting came on Dec. 2, 2012, during head coach Cori Close's second year at the helm.
Led by 17 points, 10 boards and seven assists from Markel Walker, 19th-ranked UCLA took down Loyola Marymount, 86-66. After the two teams went back and forth early on, the Bruins erupted for a 29-9 run in the first half to pull away, leading by as many as 27 points on the way to collecting their fourth triumph of the 2012-13 season.
