Thirteen Bruins, including second-team selections Quentin Lake and Odua Isibor, were named to the 2018 Pac-12 Conference Football All-Academic teams which were released in an announcement made on Monday afternoon by Commissioner Larry Scott. Each student-athlete must have attained a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their teams games.
Lake, a sophomore safety, saw action in all 12 games as a starter and ranked third on the team in tackles this past season (67). He added two interceptions in back-to-back games against Arizona and Utah and had a total of five pass defenses on the season. Lake registered season-highs of nine tackles in games versus Arizona State and Cincinnati.
Isibor is a redshirt freshman who started nine games at outside linebacker and saw action in all 12 contests. He was credited with a season-high three tackles in games versus Arizona State, Utah, Arizona and Oklahoma. Isibor also recorded 1.5 tackles for loss, including a quarterback sack.
The pair of Bruin defenders were joined on this year's Football All-Academic team by honorable mention selections sophomore offensive lineman Michael Alves, junior long snapper Johnny Den Bleyker, junior receiver Ethan Fernea, senior punter Stefan Flintoft, redshirt sophomore receiver Dymond Lee, senior receiver Christian Pabico, senior safety Adarius Pickett, redshirt freshman defensive back Shea Pitts, redshirt freshman defensive back Jay Shaw, redshirt freshman linebacker Jayce Smalley, redshirt junior tight end Caleb Wilson.
