FULLERTON, Calif. – Michael Toglia hit two home runs and Garrett Mitchell drove in three runs on two hits as the No. 11 UCLA baseball team earned its first road win of the season over Cal State Fullerton, 12-2, on Tuesday from Goodwin Field.

With a one-run lead in the top of the eighth inning, UCLA put up five runs in the inning to make the score 8-2. Toglia started off the inning with a long, solo home run to right field from the left side of the plate. The Bruins then loaded the bases on three-straight walks for Ryan Kreidler who hit a line drive to center field for a sacrifice fly, followed by Mitchell hitting an infield single to second base for a run. Pinch hitter Jarron Silva then bounced a ball down the first-base line to bring home Kyle Cuellar and a throwing error by the first baseman allowed Mitchell to cross the plate for the six-run advantage.

UCLA added four more runs in the ninth inning as Toglia blasted his second home run of the game, a two-run shot, to left field from the right side of the plate. Later in the inning, Ty Haselman singled to center field with two outs to score the final two runs of the game for the final score of 12-2.

Ryan Garcia (1-0) threw 5.0 innings allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts for his first win of the season. Brian Gadsby recorded his first save of the year tossing the final 2.1 innings without allowing a run or a hit with two strikeouts.

The Bruins put up three runs in the second inning for the first runs of the game. Strumpf led off the frame with a towering solo home run over the left-field wall, followed by Mitchell with a two-run, line-drive single up the middle to plate Jeremy Ydens and Cuellar.

Cal State Fullerton got a run back in the bottom half of the third inning when Mitch Berryhill hit a two-out RBI-single to left field to make the score 3-1.

The Titans cut the lead to just one in the seventh inning as Daniel Cope led off with a walk and then scored on an infield single by Sahid Valenzuela with two outs.

Cal State Fullerton's Gavin Velasquez (0-2) allowed three runs on two hits with two walks in 1.1 innings of work to suffer the loss, while Tanner Bibee threw six innings in relief allowing just one run on four hits with five strikeouts.

UCLA (7-1) finished the game with 12 runs on nine hits with two errors, while Cal State Fullerton (1-7) totaled two runs on four hits with five errors.

UCLA will host the NC Dinos in an exhibition game on Wednesday before the Bruins travel to Minneapolis, Minn. for the DQ Classic/Pac-12 vs. Big Ten Challenge over the weekend to be played at U.S. Bank Stadium. UCLA will face Illinois, Michigan State and Minnesota during the three-game weekend.
