No. 16 UCLA Rolls Past ASU, 12-1

LOS ANGELES โ RJ Teijeiro collected three hits with two doubles and scored three runs, while Jake Hirabayashi hit a home run and Zach Pettway threw six strong innings as the No. 16 UCLA baseball team earned a 12-1 win over Arizona State on Saturday from Jackie Robinson Stadium. With the victory, the Bruins earn the series win after defeating the Sun Devils on Friday, 5-4.
The Bruins scored in double digits for the fifth time this season as Kevin Kendall went 3-for-5 and Daniel Amaral drove in three runs. Michael Toglia and Will McInerny each drove in two runs for UCLA.
UCLA jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the second inning as Hirabayashi hit a two-run home run with a line drive over the left-field wall after Teijeiro cross home on a wild pitch.

The Bruins put up five runs in the third inning to take an 8-0 lead. Toglia and Jack Stronach would hit back-to-back RBI doubles followed by McInerny being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Amaral would then knock in two more runs with a base hit up the middle to bring home Hirabayashi and Teijeiro.
UCLA scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 10-0 but Arizona State would get one run back when Hunter Bishop hit a solo home run down the right-field line in the top of the sixth.
The Bruins tacked on two more as Teijeiro hit his second double of the game to plate Stronach in the bottom half of the sixth inning and in the seventh inning Toglia brought home Hirabayashi with a sacrifice fly to center field.
Pettway (4-0) tossed six innings allowing one run on five hits with four strikeouts. The UCLA bullpen of Garrett Barker, Chase Farrell and Nathan Hadley combined to throw three scoreless innings and surrendered just two base hits with five strikeouts.
ASU's Boyd Vander Kooi (3-2) suffered the loss allowing seven runs on eight hits in 2.1 innings of work.
UCLA (15-4, 5-0) scored 12 runs on 13 hits with no errors, while Arizona State (11-12, 3-2) finished with one run on seven hits and no errors.
The series finale between UCLA and Arizona State will take place on Sunday at noon PT from Jackie Robinson Stadium with the game being televised on the Pac-12 Network.
