MIAMI -- No. 2 UCLA won its 19th consecutive dual with a 5-0 victory over No. 8 South Carolina (16-6) on Saturday morning at Lummus Park Beach Courts to complete competition at the FIU Surf 'N' Turf Invitational.
The Bruins, who improved to 24-3 on the season, will return to action on "Senior Day" on Wednesday, April 4 when they host No. 4 USC and No. 5 Long Beach State in a doubleheader on the Pac-12 Networks. The Bruins will open with the 49ers at 1:00 p.m. PT and conclude with the Trojans at 3:30 p.m.
The Bruins got their first point of the dual on court five when freshman Megan Muret and junior Izzy Carey defeated South Carolina's Avery Davis and Jess Vastine, 21-11, 21-15.
Senior Elise Zappia and freshman Mac May put UCLA up 2-0 with a straight-set win over the Gamecocks' Leah Perri and Macie Tendrich, 21-16, 21-14.
Junior Sarah Sponcil and sophomore Lily Justine secured the dual victory with a straight-set win on court two over SC's Katie Smith and Cadie Bates, 21-14, 21-11.
Juniors Megan McNamara and Nicole McNamara put the Bruins up 4-0 with a straight-set win on court one over South Carolina's Shannon Williams and Ali Denney, 21-14, 21-13.
UCLA's junior Zana Muno and sophomore Savvy Simo completed the sweep on court three, posting a two-set victory over the Gamecocks' Carly Schneider and Julia Mannisto, 21-16, 21-12.
