No. 17 UCLA Slugs Past Oregon, 15-1

LOS ANGELES โ Jeremy Ydens hit two home runs and drove in five runs, while Daniel Amaral hit a home run and a double as the No. 17 UCLA baseball team tallied a 15-1 win over Oregon on Saturday from Jackie Robinson Stadium. With the victory, the Bruins earn the series win after defeating the Ducks 12-4 on Friday.
Zach Pettway (8-3) collected the win and improved to 4-3 in Pac-12 play throwing 6.0 innings allowing one run on four hits with seven strikeouts. Oregon's Matt Mercer (5-6) suffered the loss allowing seven runs on six hits in 5.1 innings of work with eight strikeouts.
The Bruin offense was also led by Michael Toglia with two doubles and three RBIs and Ryan Kreidler went 2-for-2 with three runs scored.
UCLA jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Ydens led off the game with a solo home run deep over the wall in left field. The Bruins tacked on two more runs in the second inning as Amaral ripped a RBI-double into the left-center field gap and later scored on an infield single by Garrett Mitchell.
UCLA pushed their lead to 6-0 in the fourth inning when Ydens hit his second home run of the game, this time over the right-field wall, to bring in Kreidler and Will McInerny.

After taking a 9-1 lead, the Bruins scored six runs in the sixth inning for the 15-1 advantage highlighted by a solo home run by Amaral and RBI-doubles by McInerny and Toglia.
UCLA (34-17, 17-9) scored 15 runs on 14 hits with no errors, while Oregon (25-26, 11-15) finished the game with one run on five hits with two errors.
The series finale between UCLA and Oregon will be played on Sunday starting at noon PT at Jackie Robinson Stadium live on the Pac-12 Network. Sunday is also Senior Day as the Bruins will honor Garrett Barker, Jake Bird, Nathan Hadley, Daniel Rosica and Matt Walker with the ceremony beginning at 11:30 a.m. PT.
