No. 17 UCLA Sweeps Oregon on Senior Day, 10-2

LOS ANGELES - Ryan Kreidler hit a home run and drove in two runs, while Jeremy Ydens recorded two base hits and three RBIs as the No. 17 UCLA baseball team earned the series sweep against Oregon, 10-2, on Sunday afternoon in the final regular-season home game of the season at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Bruins won all five of their home Pac-12 series this season for the first time since 2015.
Ryan Garcia (6-1), improved to 3-1 in Pac-12 play after tossing 5.2 innings allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts, while Oregon's Kolby Somers (2-7) suffered the loss allowing seven runs, five earned, on five hits with three strikeouts.
UCLA's offense was also led by Garrett Mitchell with two hits and two runs scored and Kevin Kendall drove in two runs and Michael Toglia collected two base hits.
UCLA jumped out to a big lead early with a six-run second inning. The Bruins loaded the bases for Mitchell who brought home the first run with a single to left field, followed by Kreidler plating a run with a sacrifice fly to center field. After Daniel Rosica walked to reload the bases, Ydens cleared them for a three-run triple to right-center field. Kendall plated the final run of the frame as he scored Ydens with a sacrifice fly to left field.
The Bruins tacked one more run in the fourth inning as Mitchell led off with a triple to left field and scored on a sacrifice fly to center field off the bat ofย Rosica.
Oregon got a run back in the sixth inning, but UCLA responded with two in the bottom half of the frame as Kendall hit a RBI-single through the right side of the infield and Ydens scored on a wild pitch.
UCLA made it an eight-run game again in the seventh inning when Kreidler hit an opposite field home run over the wall in right field for the 10-2 score.
Sunday was also Senior Day for the Bruins as Garrett Barker, Jake Bird, Nathan Hadley, Daniel Rosica and Matt Walker were honored prior to the final regular season home game of the season.
UCLA (35-17, 18-9) finished the game with 10 runs on 10 hits with no errors, while Oregon (25-27, 11-16) scored two runs on six hits with two errors.
The Bruins will end the regular season on the road next week when they travel to Oregon State for a three-game Pac-12 series beginning on Thursday at 4 p.m. PT. All three games of the series will be televised with the first two games on the Pac-12 Network and the regular-season finale on ESPNU.
