Rachel Garcia Named UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of Week

Redshirt sophomore Rachel Garcia of the UCLA softball team has been named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for May 14-20.
Pitching in all five games for the Bruins at the Los Angeles Regional, Garcia went 4-1 with a 0.69 earned run average and 37 strikeouts in 30.1 innings, helping UCLA to a Regional title over Cal State Fullerton. She pitched all but four innings for UCLA, giving up 15 hits and three earned runs, throwing 501 pitches in three days. At the plate, Garcia went 6-for-16 (.375) with a homer and seven RBI. In the final game of the weekend, she hit a three-home run to help seal the Regional for the Bruins.
UCLA will host Arizona in the Super Regional this weekend starting on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT from Easton Stadium.
This is Garcia's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week of the season and the first of her career.
