No. 16 UCLA Wins Regular Season Finale at No. 2 Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. โ€“ Ryan Garcia tossed 6.2 innings allowing just one unearned run, while Jeremy Ydens hit a home run and Ryan Kreidler drove in two runs as the No. 16 UCLA baseball team defeated No. 2 Oregon State, 4-1, on Saturday in the regular-season finale at Goss Stadium. The Bruins finished Pac-12 play with a 19-11 mark.

Ryan Garcia (6-1) tossed 6.2 innings allowing one unearned run on seven hits with four strikeouts. Kyle Mora (3) picked up the save tossing the final 2.0 innings without allowing a run and surrendered just one hit with three strikeouts. Nathan Burns (1-0) suffered the loss allowing two runs on two hits in 0.2 innings to start the game.

UCLA jumped out to an early two-run lead after the top of the first inning as the Bruins loaded the bases for Ryan Kreidler who smacked a two-run single through the left side of the infield to bring home Kevin Kendall and Jack Stronach.

The Bruins added a run in the second inning with another two-out RBI as Kendall ripped a single into left field to score Jake Hirabayashi who led off the frame with a single up the middle.

Oregon State cut the lead to 3-1 in the sixth inning when Zak Taylor scored on a wild pitch but the Beavers were unable to score again as Garcia got a fly ball to center field to end the inning.

UCLA pushed its lead back to three runs in the top of the eighth when Ydens led off the inning with a solo home run to left field on the second pitch of the frame.

UCLA (36-19, 19-11) scored four runs on seven hits with one error, while Oregon State (44-10-1, 20-9-1) finished the game with one run on eight hits with no errors.

UCLA will await the NCAA baseball committee's selection of the 64-team field for the NCAA Tournament. The college baseball NCAA Tournament selection show will air Monday at 9 a.m. (PT) on ESPNU.
