
Shibahara, Fleming, Hart Earn All-America Honors

LOS ANGELES โ UCLA sophomore standout Ena Shibahara and the rock-solid doubles pairing of Terri Fleming and Jada Hart were all namedย 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Americans, it was announced by the ITA on Wednesday.
Playing exclusively on court one, Shibahara ended the season as the No. 13-ranked singles player in the country. Fleming/Hart served as UCLA's top doubles tandem and ended the campaign ranked No. 12 in the country.
Shibahara compiled a 27-10 record in her second season in Westwood, bumping up her winning percentage with a 15-6 mark in dual match play. The Palos Verdes, Calif. native rounded out her game in the latter part of the season, losing just once in her final 11 singles matchups.
She was just as formidable in doubles, going unbeaten in 20 straight to close out the season alongside partner Alaina Miller. It was the second straight ITA All-American Award for Shibahara, who was the ITA Rookie of the Year for 2016-17. She is also a two-time All-Pac-12 First Team selection and the 2018 ITA Southwest Region Player to Watch.
Fleming/Hart meanwhile posted a 14-9 mark in doubles play. Entering the polls at No. 38 back on Feb. 20, they spent eight straight weeks ranked inside the top-10 from Apr. 3 to May 29. They were the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Doubles Championship.
Overall, the Bruins recorded a 23-6 record for the 2018 season and reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015. UCLA also hosted the First and Second rounds of the NCAA Tourney at Los Angeles Tennis Center and advanced out of the Regionals for the 17th time in the past 20 seasons.ย
