Canada, Quinn Help Seattle Win WNBA Championship

WASHINGTON, D.C. – UCLA's Jordin Canada and Noelle Quinn and the Seattle Storm completed a sweep of Washington on Wednesday night, to win Game 3 of the WNBA Finals, 98-82. It marked the first WNBA Championship for both players, joining Michelle Greco (Seattle Storm, 2004), as the only Bruins to win a title.
The Storm finished the regular season in first place in the WNBA with a 26-8 record and advanced to the WNBA Finals with a 3-2 win over Phoenix in the Semifinals.
Quinn just completed her 12th season in the WNBA and her second stint and fourth year with Seattle. She tallied a season-high five assists on June 15 against the Connecticut Sun and grabbed the 1000th rebound of her career at Dallas on June 24. She played in a season-high 22 minutes in a home win over Dallas on Aug. 19, recording season-highs in points (six) and rebounds (five) while adding three assists. Quinn played in 22 games, making one start on the year while averaging 9.0 minutes, 1.6 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game.

Canada, who was selected No. 5 overall by the Seattle Storm in the 2018 WNBA Draft, ranked 21st in the WNBA in assists per game (3.3 apg) and played in 41 contests in her rookie campaign, making two starts. She averaged 16.4 minutes, 5.7 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game. During the playoffs, she was 26th in the WNBA in assists (2.3 apg) and also averaged 6.1 points per game in eight appearances. In the Semifinals against Phoenix, the rookie scored double-figures in back-to-back games, scoring 12 points (in 15 minutes) in a Game 2 win and 11 points (in 17 minutes) in a Game 3 loss. She had a team-high four steals in her first career game against Phoenix on May 20. She earned her first career start against Dallas on June 2 and responded with a season-high nine assists and a season-high five steals while playing 29 minutes. She tallied a career-high 13 points at Minnesota on June 24.

The Bruins' Monique Billings also had a strong showing in her rookie season with Atlanta. The Dream reached the Semifinals as well, but fell in Game 5 to Washington. Billings, who was selected No. 15 overall by the Atlanta Dream in the 2018 WNBA Draft, played in 37 games averaging 11.0 minutes per game in her rookie season. She averaged 3.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 0.4 steals per game. She had a season-high 11 points in a Game 4 loss to Washington. Came off the bench and scored seven points against Washington on July 31 and scored eight points and grabbed six boards in a win over Los Angeles on July 24. Came off the bench and scored eight points in 12 minutes against Seattle on July 22 and scored 10 points off the bench in a win over Washington on July 15. She scored her first career points off the bench with eight points in four minutes at Chicago on May 23 and played 10 minutes in her first career WNBA game at Dallas on May 20.
