Freshman Sondre Guttormsen of the UCLA track & field team has been named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 22-28.

A freshman pole vaulter out of Ski, Norway, Guttormsen cleared 5.71m (18-8.75) at the Columbia Challenge, breaking a 41-year old UCLA indoor school record, setting a meet record and setting the Norwegian national record. Guttormsen set the records on his third attempt, trumping Mike Tulley's school indoor mark of 5.62m (18-5.25), set for the Bruins in 1978. Guttormsen also tied Tulley's school outdoor mark of 5.71m.

This is Guttormsen's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week award this season and of his career.
