PHOENIX, Ariz. – The UCLA women's tennis team is slotted at No. 8 in the Oracle/ITA Preseason National Team Rankings, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Wednesday.

UCLA is one of two Pac-12 schools in the top 25. Defending NCAA champion Stanford is No. 1. The Bruins and Cardinal will meet Friday, March 29 at Los Angeles Tennis Center, with Pac-12 Networks providing live television coverage at 1:30 p.m., PT.

While player rankings were not announced Wednesday, a number of Bruins were spread across the Nov. 14 installment. Freshman Elysia Bolton's standout fall was rewarded with a No. 11 singles ranking. Joining her on that list was sophomore Abi Altick at No. 113. The duo of seniors Gabby Andrews and Ayan Broomfield, which won the ITA Southwest Regional Championships and Jack Kramer Collegiate Tournament doubles titles during the fall, is No. 6 among doubles tandems. The pair of Bolton and redshirt junior Jada Hart is No. 12, while Altick and senior Alaina Miller is No. 36.

UCLA returns four of its five winningest singles players from 2018 in Altick (30), Hart (27), Miller (23) and Broomfield (17). Hart (Second Team), Altick (Honorable Mention) and Miller (Honorable Mention) garnered All-Pac-12 recognition in 2018. They are joined in 2019 by newcomers Bolton, Taylor Johnson and Katie LaFrance. Andrews and sophomore Sophie Bendetti round out the roster.

The Bruins will open the dual-match season Saturday, Jan. 26, when Minnesota visits LATC for ITA Kick-Off Weekend. First serve will take place at 12 p.m. They will take on FIU or Loyola Marymount the next day. In all, UCLA will host nine matches at LATC, including a visit from No. 7 Pepperdine on Wednesday, April 3. The Bruins will also face stiff road tests early in the season, with back-to-back matches against No. 9 Oklahoma State and No. 22 Tulsa to begin February. For the full schedule, click HERE.
