LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's basketball team returns home to face Oregon State on Thursday, Feb. 21. Game time is set for 8 p.m. Oregon State defeated UCLA in Corvallis, Ore., earlier last month, securing a 79-66 victory at Gill Coliseum (Jan. 13). UCLA's Kris Wilkes scored a team-leading 21 points in that game. The Bruins trailed Oregon State at halftime, 32-26, but rallied midway through the second half to take a 47-46 lead with 11:15 to play. From that point, Oregon State outscored the visiting Bruins by a 33-19 margin to win the game. UCLA leads the all-time series against Oregon State by a 96-39 margin.

UCLA split a pair of road games last week, winning in overtime at California (75-67) before dropping a game at Stanford on Saturday night (104-80). Between the two Pac-12 games, Jaylen Hands averaged 20.5 points, making 17 of 19 free throws (89.5%). Kris Wilkes registered a team-leading 29 points in the overtime victory at California, averaging 17.0 points and 6.5 rebounds between both games. Hands scored a career-high 29 points in the team's loss at Stanford last Saturday.

UCLA overcame a 17-point second half deficit in the 87-84 overtime win at Oregon, back on Jan. 10. The Bruins rallied from a nine-point deficit in the final minute of the game, tying the contest at 80-80 to force overtime. Conversely, UCLA saw a 22-point lead with 12:10 to play in the second half fade away against Utah, on Saturday, Feb. 9. Trailing 92-90, Utah's Parker Van Dyke nailed a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to give the Runnin' Utes a dramatic 93-92 win in Pauley Pavilion.
 
3-POINT THREAT
Freshman David Singleton leads the team in 3-point percentage (44.2%), having made 23 of 52 attempts. Singleton has shot 42.4% from 3-point distance in Pac-12 play. Jason Kapono owns the school record for 3-point field goal percentage by a freshman (82-for-173, 47.4% in 1999-00), with a minimum of one 3-pointer made per game (Singleton currently falls short of the statistic minimum). Singleton would rank second in that freshman percentage category, if he were to qualify.
 
BLOCKED SHOTS
Freshman Moses Brown ranks third in the Pac-12 in blocks per game (2.0). Brown's 53 total blocks are the most by a UCLA freshman since Kevin Love finished with 56 blocks in 2007-08. Prior to that, Jelani McCoy set the school's single-season blocks record with 102 as a freshman in 1995-96. Brown currently ranks No. 10 on UCLA's single-season blocks list (trailing Jerome Moiso, 55 blocks, for the ninth spot, and Kevin Love, 56 blocks, for the eighth spot).
 
SCORING AND REBOUNDING
UCLA ranks No. 2 in the Pac-12 in scoring (78.0 ppg) and rebounding (41.3 rpg) and is third in rebounding margin (+5.1). Through games played last Friday, Feb. 15, the Bruins ranked No. 7 in the nation in rebounding and No. 30 in rebounding margin. Though Sunday's Pac-12 games, freshman Moses Brown (10.5 ppg, 8.4 rpg) ranked fourth in the league in rebounding, first in offensive boards per game (3.5) and second in field goal percentage (63.3%).
 
ASSIST LEADER
Sophomore Jaylen Hands leads all Pac-12 players in total assists (162) and assists per game (6.2). Hands has averaged 13.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 26 games and currently ranks fifth in the Pac-12 in assist-turnover ratio (1.9-to-1), through games played Sunday, Feb. 17. He has recorded at least nine assists in seven games and tallied 10 (or more) assists in three consecutive games in December (vs. Hawai'i, Notre Dame and Belmont).
 
STANDING TALL
Eight of UCLA's 17 players measure at least 6-foot-8. Freshman Moses Brown (7-foot-1) is the Bruins' tallest player since the late Mike Lanier (7-foot-7) competed as a reserve for UCLA in 1991-92 and 1992-93. Redshirt junior Alex Olesinski and redshirt freshman Jalen Hill are 6-feet-10, while freshmen Shareef O'Neal and Kenneth Nwuba, sophomore Chris Smith and redshirt freshman Cody Riley are 6-foot-9. Sophomore Kris Wilkes rounds out the list at 6-foot-8.
 
NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT
The Bruins (13-13, 6-7 Pac-12) will take on Oregon (15-10, 6-6 Pac-12) on Saturday evening in a contest that will be nationally televised (ESPN/2/U). UCLA won its meeting at Oregon earlier this season (Jan. 10), overcoming a nine-point deficit with under 58 seconds to play in regulation. Chris Smith grabbed a rebound with under two seconds left and scored a layup with 0.9 seconds to play, tying the contest at 80-80. After Oregon scored the first four points in overtime, UCLA used a 7-0 scoring run to finish the game and seal an 87-84 victory. UCLA has gone 89-36 in the all-time series against Oregon.
 
MORE ABOUT MOSES
Moses Brown is on pace to become the fourth UCLA freshman in seven seasons to lead the team in rebounds (currently with 219 total rebounds, averaging 8.4 rebounds per game). TJ Leaf (287, 8.2 rpg) led the team in total rebounds as a freshman in 2016-17, while Kevon Looney (331, 9.2 rpg) finished the 2014-15 season as UCLA's most prolific rebounder. As a freshman in 2012-13, Kyle Anderson led the squad with 302 rebounds (averaging 8.6 per game). Brown's rebounding average (8.4 rpg) is the best by a UCLA freshman since Looney registered a team-high 9.2 rebounds per game in 2014-15.
 
STREAKING
UCLA has made at least one 3-pointer played in its last 648 games. That 3-point streak began after the Bruins went 0-for-14 from 3-point territory in a 78-63 loss at No. 2-ranked Stanford on Feb. 3, 2000 (Maples Pavilion). UCLA has made at least three 3-pointers in 195 of 200 games since the start of the 2013-14 season. The Bruins made a school single-game-record 19 three-pointers (on 31 attempts) at Colorado on Jan. 12, 2017 (UCLA won that game, 104-89).
