SAN FRANCISCO - The Bruins earned a pair of Pac-12 weekly awards on Tuesday, as redshirt junior Rachel Garcia was named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row, while Megan Faraimo picked up conference Freshman of the Week honors.

In two complete-game victories last week, Garcia struck out 27 and walked none, limiting batters to just 10 hits and one run. In her 14 frames, she struck out the side in five of them and had two strikeouts in five more. Garcia fanned 13 in a six-hit shutout over Ole Miss on Feb. 16, adding 14 strikeouts in a four-hitter the next day versus Loyola Marymount. In three of her four starts this season, Garcia has posted strikeout totals of 13, 14 and 15. She also went 4-for-7 (.571) at the plate last week with a home run, four runs batted in, three runs scored and two doubles.

In her lone appearance of the week and just her second career start, Faraimo tossed the 110th no-hitter in UCLA history and the first of her career. She struck out 10 in her five-inning victory over Fresno State, retiring the final 14 batters she faced. Two walks in the first inning were the only baserunners for the Bulldogs, as Faraimo struck out the side in the first and two each in the second, third and fourth.

Garcia's award is the ninth Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week accolade of her career. She won the honor four times last season and three times as a freshman in 2017. Faraimo's award is her first and the 15th Pac-12 FOW for the Bruins since the award began in 2016.

The Bruins head to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic next weekend in Cathedral City, Calif. The six-game, four-day tournament for UCLA begins on Thursday at 8 p.m. versus No. 19 Texas A&M.
