SAN FRANCISCO -- UCLA senior Sarah Sponcil (Phoenix, Ariz.) and junior Lily Justine (Chico, Calif.) have been named the Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week as announced by the league office today.

The Bruin duo helped defending NCAA and Pac-12 Champion UCLA equal its best start to a season in program history (2015) at 5-0 with four sweeps and four wins over ranked teams in the opening weekend of beach volleyball competition.

The 5-0 wins came against No. 6 Cal Poly, No. 5 Hawai'i, No. 11 Stanford and Saint Mary's. Then UCLA closed out the weekend with a 4-1 win over fourth-ranked Pepperdine.

The pair went 3-0 in three-set matches, keeping UCLA perfect at 9-0 on the year in three-set matches across all five courts. It also claimed a pair of straight-set victories.

It is the second-career Pair of the Week honor for the duo that secured the clinching point (3-1) to win the NCAA Championship over Florida State last season. It is the ninth all-time weekly nod for the Bruins.
