USA Volleyball announced this week that UCLA's Austin Matautia and Brandon Rattray will be part of a 12-player team which will compete in the men's volleyball competition at the World University Games to be held on July 3-14 in Napoli, Italy.
Matautia, an outside hitter, has recorded 41 kills in his last five matches for the Bruins. He was errorless on 27 swings at Concordia last week while producing 11 kills. Matautia registered a Bruin career-high 13 kills in a win earlier this season over BYU.
Rattray, an opposite, has 46 kills and nine aces in his last four matches. He ranks 12th in the NCAA in points per set this season at 4.44 and 14th in the NCAA in kills per set (3.79).
The Bruins (4-0) will return to action this week on Wednesday night in Pauley Pavilion, presented by Wescom against No. 4 Pepperdine (4-0). First serve is set for 7 p.m. with the lead in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation the prize for the winner.
