A matchup between UCLA and NWSL squad Reign FC on Saturday, Mar. 16 will highlight the 2019 UCLA Women's Soccer spring schedule.
The UCLA-Reign FC match will take place at SilverLakes Soccer Complex (5555 Hamner Avenue) in Norco, Calif. on grass field #16 at Noon. Tickets in the seated section are available for $10. Reign FC has three Bruins on its squad – 2013 NCAA champions Megan Oyster and Darian Jenkins and 2016 NWSL Defender of the Year Lauren Barnes. Other notable players on the squad are U.S. Women's National Team players Megan Rapinoe and Allie Long.
UCLA returns 10 starters from the 2018 squad that finished 17-3-2, falling in penalty kicks in the NCAA quarterfinals. Among the Bruin returners are 2018 first-team All-American and leading scorer Ashley Sanchez (10 goals, 15 assists and 35 points), two-time All-American and 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Jessie Fleming, All-Region defender Karina Rodriguez, and 2018 All-Pac-12 honorees Viviana Villacorta, Anika Rodriguez and Delanie Sheehan.
The Bruins' spring schedule kicks off on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7pm against the University of Victoria at Wallis Annenberg Stadium. The Bruins will also host Japanese squad JFA on Friday, Mar. 8 at 5:30pm; Loyola Marymount and UC Irvine on Alumni Weekend Sunday, Apr. 7 at 8:15am and 9:30am, respectively; and Pepperdine on Sunday, Apr. 14 at 2pm. All game dates/times are subject to change. Admission will be free for the games at Wallis Annenberg Stadium.
