HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Bruins moved up two spots to seventh after 36 holes at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. UCLA showed a six-shot improvement en route to a 5-over 289 on Saturday at the Long Cove Club and is at 16-over 584 through two rounds.
Junior Mariel Galdiano moved into a tie for 14th (+2, 144) following an even-par 71. She made three birdies on No. 1, 5 and 10 and three bogeys. Senior Beth Wu is tied for 21st (+3, 145), recording a 1-over 72 on Saturday. She posted three birdies (No. 3, 5 and 17) and four bogeys. Sophomore Patty Tavatanakit is tied for 27th (+4, 146). She had a pair of birdies on the sixth and 10th holes, two bogeys and a double for a 2-over 73. Junior Clare Legaspi (T-79, +14, 156) had nine bogeys in her 9-over 80. Freshman Phoebe Yue was 11 shots better from Friday to Saturday, posting a 2-over 73 on one birdie (No. 13) and three bogeys. She is tied for 82nd (+15, 157).
The Bruins start their final round on Sunday at 8 a.m. ET/5 a.m. PT in the order of Yue, Legaspi, Tavatanakit, Wu and Galdiano.
