A total of 13 Bruins are on the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) opening day rosters for 2019, including four each on the defending league champion North Carolina Courage and on Reign FC.

Back from last year's championship squad at North Carolina are Abby Dahlkemper, Sam Mewis, Katelyn Rowland and McCall Zerboni. The fifth Bruin reigning champion is Darian Jenkins, who was traded to Reign FC and joins Bruin alumnae Lauren Barnes, Megan Oyster and Taylor Smith. Two Bruins are members of Sky Blue FC – Caprice Dydasco and Sarah Killion. Other UCLA alumnae playing in the league are Zoey Goralski (Chicago Red Stars), Sydney Leroux (Orlando Pride) and Mal Pugh (Washington Spirit).

The NWSL season kicks off on Saturday, Apr. 13 with the Washington Spirit hosting Sky Blue FC and the North Carolina Courage hosting the Chicago Red Stars. Both matches will begin at 7 pm ET. The Orlando Pride's season begins Sunday, Apr. 14 with a home match against Portland Thorns FC. Reign FC also kicks off its season on Apr. 14 with a match at Houston.
