DULUTH, Ga. - Bruin alum Scott McCarron loved playing at TPC Sugarloaf during his PGA TOUR career, winning the BellSouth Classic in 1997 and 2001, and for the third time in his career, he won at the course, claiming the Mitsubishi Electric Classic on Sunday.
McCarron led from start to finish, closing with a 1-under 72 to win by two strokes (-7, 209). It was his ninth victory on the PGA TOUR Champions in just his fourth season on tour, having won twice in 2016, four times in 2017 and twice last year. McCarron's winnings ($270,000) vaulted him into the lead in the Charles Schwab Cup points race.
