INDIANAPOLIS -- The Pac-12 regular-season champion UCLA men's tennis team was chosen as the No. 11 seed in the upcoming NCAA Division I Tennis Championship, the selection committee announced Monday. As one of the top 16 seeds, UCLA's Los Angeles Tennis Center will play host to first- and second-round matches on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4.

Head coach Billy Martin's teams have qualified for the NCAA Championships each year since the tournament format was adopted in 1977. Now with 43 appearances, UCLA is the only program to have that claim.

UCLA (17-5) faces off against WAC champion Grand Canyon (19-6) in a first-round match Friday at 2 p.m., PT. The Bruins hold a 3-0 all-time record against the Lopes, including a 4-2 home victory this season. Freshman Mathew Tsolakyan clinched the comeback win, as the Lopes claimed the doubles point and led 2-1 later in the match. UCLA was without Maxime Cressy and Keegan Smith.

The Bruins will play Friday's second match, with Oklahoma State and Ole Miss kicking off action at 11 a.m. The Cowboys registered a 15-11 record out of the Big 12, while the SEC's Rebels went 16-12. The winners of Friday's contests will square off Saturday at 3 p.m.

Thirty conference champions earned the tournament's automatic bids. Thirty-four others rounded out the 64-team field as at-large selections. Winners of each first- and second-round regional will move on to eight super-regional sites. The final eight teams will come together in Orlando Fla. to compete for the national championship from May 16-19. The USTA National Campus will host the final three rounds.

All matches will be regulation dual matches, consisting of three doubles matches and six singles matches. The first team to collect two doubles victories shall be declared the winner. Likewise, the match will be stopped when the first team reaches the necessary four points to clinch the overall win.
