INDIANAPOLIS – UCLA women's tennis players Gabby Andrews, Elysia Bolton, Ayan Broomfield and Jada Hart have been selected to participate in the singles and doubles competitions at the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships in Orlando, Fla., the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Subcommittee announced Tuesday.
Bolton and Hart received at-large selections to the singles field, while the pairs of Andrews-Broomfield and Bolton-Hart were selected to the doubles draw via at-large pick. Andrews-Broomfield is the No. 4 seed for the doubles tournament and earned All-America status as a result.
Competitions will take place May 20-25 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. The University of Central Florida and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission will serve as hosts. The final three rounds of the team tournament will occur May 16-19.
All matches will feature a best-of-three-sets format. Like the regular-season, no-ad scoring and a seven-point tiebreaker at six-games-all will be employed. Unlike the regular season, not only will doubles feature more than one set, but a potential third set would be decided by a 10-point match tiebreaker.
Andrews-Broomfield enters NCAA play with a 20-7 record. Ranked No. 4 in the nation heading into last week's Pac-12 Championships, the pair defeated 14th-ranked Carolina Lampl-Kimberly Yee of Stanford for its fourth-straight win against a nationally ranked opponent. Andrews-Broomfield claimed the ITA Southwest Regional Championships doubles title in the fall.
Bolton-Hart is riding an 11-match winning streak into NCAAs and sat just outside the nation's top-10 teams for a majority of the campaign. The pair notched a pair of top-five wins, knocking off then-No. 3 Emily Arbuthnott-Michaela Gordon of Stanford in the fall and then-No. 4 Angela Kulikov-Rianna Valdes of USC in the spring. Bolton-Hart possesses a team-high 27 victories.
Bolton has also had success on the singles courts as the team's leader in wins, with 25. The freshman standout is 9-6 against nationally-ranked opponents and won seven straight matches to close the regular season. She was ranked among the top 25 players in the country throughout most of the season.
Though she tallied just 10 wins during the dual-match season due primarily to unfinished contests, Hart made the most of them. From Feb. 24-April 3, the redshirt junior won nine of 10 matches and five of six against nationally-ranked challengers. As a result, she saw her ranking climb from unlisted to as high as 38th.
