UCLA Athletics today announced its plans to celebrate the first 100 years of UCLA and UCLA Athletics, in conjunction with the University's year-long Centennial Celebration, set to launch tomorrow, May 18, 2019.
In partnership with Under Armour, UCLA Athletics will unveil Centennial Uniforms, which will serve as alternate uniform options for Bruin teams during the 2019-20 school year. Centennial Uniform designs will be revealed as each sport's season approaches. In addition, the official UCLA Athletics Centennial Patch logo will be featured prominently on select uniforms and at home venues throughout the year. Beginning this week and continuing throughout the 2019-20 celebration, UCLA Athletics will commemorate 100 Top Moments in UCLA Athletics history. The moments will be highlighted on UCLA Athletics social media channels (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram), as well as on the website at www.uclabruins.com/centennial. The moments, which were selected by a committee, along with online fan input, will be revealed in no particular order throughout the year, reflecting on some of the many high points throughout the past century of UCLA Athletics.
Each sport with home events will designate one home competition during its 2019-20 season as a Centennial Celebration. For that designated event, everything from uniforms to giveaways to in-game features will highlight the Centennial. The Centennial Celebration event for each sport will be identified and promoted once home schedules have been announced.
All other home events throughout the 2019-20 season will feature a Centennial Moment, which will highlight a fan memory or reflect on a historical moment in that sport's history.
Also throughout next season, fans will have the opportunity to collect special Centennial-themed giveaways, including a set of 13 Centennial Pins highlighting each sport, as well as a souvenir mosaic Centennial poster that will feature personal photos submitted by fans. Bruin Blue, the official magazine of UCLA Athletics will feature a Centennial-themed cover for all four issues that fall within the Centennial Celebration, beginning with Fall 2019. Throughout the Celebration, all UCLA Athletics printed collateral will showcase a Centennial theme.
Additional plans to mark 100 years of UCLA Athletics include Centennial Celebration Reunions for each sport's former letter winners, hosted by Bruin Varsity Club, in connection with the designated Centennial Celebration events. The UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame also will showcase various Centennial displays.
