LOS ANGELES – UCLA junior right-hander Jack Ralston has been named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Ralston threw seven shutout innings in an 18-3 rout of No. 16 Arizona State on Saturday afternoon, helping the Bruins clinch a series win. Facing the second-most productive offense in the country, he surrendered just three hits and retired a team-best 17 consecutive batters at one point. He ended the day with seven strikeouts, one off his career-high.

The Newhall, Calif. earns Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honors for the first time in his career, and joins Zach Pettway and Ryan Garcia as UCLA's 2019 recipients of the award. A Bruin has been the league's Pitcher of the Week five times in the past eight weeks. No other school has more than two this year.

After allowing a leadoff single in the second, Ralston became downright unhittable, sending down 17 consecutive Sun Devils. He didn't allow another baserunner until a two-out walk in the seventh inning, a frame he escaped without damage by inducing a routine grounder to third for the final out.

Ralston improved to 8-0 with the win, moving into a three-way tie for the Pac-12 lead in victories this season. His ERA dropped to 2.57, sixth-best in the league.

UCLA returns to Jackie Robinson Stadium on Tuesday night to host Long Beach State in a midweek showdown, then heads to Washington State for a three-game series starting Friday.
