Redshirt junior Rachel Garcia from the UCLA softball team has been named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for May 27-June 2.

Garcia sent the Bruins into the Women's College World Series Championship Finals, tossing 10 shutout innings with a season-best 16 strikeouts, while hitting a walk-off, three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th to defeat Washington on Sunday. The National Player of the Year struck out 29 in 24 innings in three Bruin victories, allowing just four runs and six walks, good for a 1.17 earned run average. Her 10 innings and 179 pitches were the second-most in both categories for her career. Garcia struck out seven against Minnesota on Thursday and six versus Arizona on Friday. At the plate, Garcia had hits in all three games, going 3-for-8 (.375) with four RBI and three walks.

This is Garcia's fourth UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week award this season and fifth in her career.
