Both center Boss Tagaloa and tight end Devin Asiasi were named to College Football Watch Lists on Friday. The Rimington Trophy committee announced that Tagaloa has been named to the watch list for this year's award. The Rimington Trophy is awarded to college football's most outstanding center. The Friends of John Mackey announced that Asiasi was named to the 2019 John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List. Given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, the award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee.
Tagaloa started the last nine games of the 2018 season at center for the Bruins. He helped pave the way for running back Joshua Kelley who rushed for at least 100 yards in six of those last nine contests and went on to finish with 1,243 yards, the 10th-highest single-season rushing total in school history. Kelley compiled 1,216 of his rushing yards with Tagaloa playing at center.
Asiasi led UCLA receivers with an average of 21.7 yards per catch in 2018. He scored a touchdown on his first reception as a Bruin, a 24-yard play against Arizona. Asiasi had five catches on the season of at least 20-yards – 30 Arizona State, 25 Stanford, 24 Arizona, 23 Oregon, 22 Oregon.

Since its inception, the award has raised over $4.2 million for the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.
Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only two-time winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
