HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - After a couple of close calls through the first six events of the Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada season, Bruin alum Lorens Chan broke through with a victory on Sunday, winning the inaugural HFX Pro-Am at Oakfield Golf and Country Club.
Chan won by two strokes, as it was a 1-2 finish for UCLA men's golf, with 2019 two-time winner Jake Knapp placing second. Chan two-putted for par from 30 feet on the final hole, with his former Bruin teammate waiting off the green to give him a hug.
"We were texting last night, and he said, 'Let's make it fun tomorrow,'" Chan told the Mackenzie Tour website. "I said, 'If I don't win, I want you to win,' and he said the same thing back to me."

Chan posted a 5-under 67 in his final round to post a 72-hole score of 24-under 264. With Sunday's win, along with four other Top 10 showings this season, Chan moved up to third in the 2019 Mackenzie Tour Order of Merit. Knapp is at No. 1 in the season-long standings, while another Bruin alum, Jonathan Garrick, is in eighth.
Bruins have won three of seven tournaments so far this season, with Knapp claiming the Canada Life Open in May and the Golf BC Championship in June.
