LOS ANGELES - The preseason No. 4 UCLA women's soccer team defeated Loyola Marymount 4-1 in its first exhibition tune-up of the 2019 season.

The Bruins scored three goals in a nine-minute span in the second half to turn a 1-0 lead into a quick 4-0 advantage.

UCLA got on the board first in the 14th minute after a perfectly-placed corner kick from Marley Canales found Lucy Parker in the box. The LSU transfer headed it past goalkeeper Lee Erickson for her first goal as a Bruin.

Another Bruin newcomer made her presence felt in the second. Freshman Kali Trevithick scored the Bruins' second goal in the 57th minute, just a minute after hitting the post on an earlier shot. Trevithick also had an assist on Chloe Castaneda's 66th minute goal, sending a picture-perfect cross to Castaneda for the goal. Castaneda also had a one goal, one assist game, setting up Ashley Sanchez for a 62nd minute goal.

The Lions tacked on a goal in the 83rd minute on a Jackie Fiacco penalty kick after a handball to end Lauren Brzycky and Idalia Serrano's shutout bid.

The Bruins outshot the Lions, 13-4, and had 10 corner kicks to LMU's one.

Twenty-two Bruins played in the contest, including freshmen starters Mia Fishel and Rachel Lowe and substitutes Trevithick, Jackie Gilday, Brianne Riley, Kylie Kerr, Brecken Mozingo and Janae DeFazio.

UCLA will have one final exhibition contest on Sunday, Aug. 18 at UC Irvine. The game will take place at Anteater Stadium at 6pm.
