The Rose Bowl, recently named college football's greatest stadium by Sports Illustrated, offers one of the best tailgating experiences in college football, with a variety of options for pre-game celebrations. New this year, Rose Bowl Concessionaire, Levy Restaurants, is operating the brand-new "Country Store" in the Arroyo Tailgate area on the golf course, adjacent to the Brookside clubhouse. This will be a go-to stop for all fans' tailgating needs. No need to worry about leaving something at home.
The Fan Zone in Lot H opens at 12:45 p.m., offering a wide variety of public activities and photo opportunities. The Victory Bell will be available for fan photo opportunities pregame in the Fan Zone, then in the Court of Champions inside Gate A through halftime. Fans should be sure to check out the UCLA/Under Armour Photo Booth, also at Gate A.
Three "cooling buses" will be available outside the Rose Bowl for fans to cool off from 12:00 p.m. until the sun sets. The air conditioned buses will be outside of Gates B and D, as well as in the Fan Zone in Area H. Inside the stadium, fans can find misting stations throughout the concourse, adjacent to Gate A and outside Tunnels 11, 19 and 28.
Continuing in 2019, the UCLA Football team will arrive at the Rose Bowl via Arroyo Blvd. where they will depart the bus outside Gate A. Fans are encouraged to cheer on the Bruins as they arrive for a modified Bruin Walk along the west side of Arroyo. Tentative timing is planned for 2.5 hours prior to kick-off, but fans should follow @UCLAGameday on Twitter for the most up to date information, and all their Rose Bowl gameday needs.
UCLA Athletics is proud to join our institution in celebrating UCLA's Centennial all season long. The football team will mark the Centennial with a UCLA 100 helmet sticker for every game, and a UCLA 100 jersey patch for all home games.
Rose Bowl gates open at 3:30 p.m. Season Ticket Holders can pick up their Centennial-themed Season Ticket Holder Pins at Gate A and Gate N. The first 7,500 fans to enter the stadium wearing Powderkeg Blue will receive a special edition Troy Aikman Collector's Coin. This is the fifth in a series of 10 Retired Number coins, two of which will be given out each season through 2021.
Fans are encouraged to enter the Rose Bowl early. The first 4,000 fans to enter on Saturday will receive a McDonald's voucher good for one free breakfast sandwich. As a reminder, enhanced screening procedures, including the use of electronic security equipment at all gates, have been implemented at UCLA Football games. The Clear Bag Policy limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into the Rose Bowl. The policy is designed to provide more consistent screening and to expedite fan entry.
New this season, the Rose Bowl, in partnership with concessionaire Levy Restaurants, introduces more than 10 new concession items to the menu throughout the stadium. Additions include Acai Bowls, Continental Empanadas, "The Arroyo" Turkey Sandwich, and a Beyond Bratwurst – a great vegan option for fans. Fans can also find value-priced concessions in two locations. Value-priced $3 nachos and hot dogs and discounted fountain beverages will be on sale near tunnels 8 and 21.
Saturday's Honorary Captain is legendary Bruin Terry Donahue, who served as the head football coach at his alma mater for 20 seasons from 1976-95. He is the winningest coach in school history (151-74-8) and the winningest coach in conference history (98 wins). Donahue was the first coach in NCAA history to win a bowl game in seven consecutive seasons (1982-88). He guided UCLA to five conference titles, four Rose Bowls (1994, 1986, 1984, 1983 games) and a postseason record of 8-4-1. Donahue led his Bruins to wins over USC in his last five meetings, becoming the first coach in the history of the series to capture as many as five straight rivalry games. He was named the Pac-10 Coach of the Year in 1985 and 1993. Donahue was inducted into the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame in 2000. He is also a member of the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame and the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame. Donahue played along the defensive line at UCLA in the 1965 and 1966 seasons and was a member of the 1966 Rose Bowl championship team which knocked off top-ranked Michigan State in Pasadena for the first Bruin win in the Rose Bowl Game in school history.
Fans should be in their seats by 4:30 p.m. to witness pregame festivities including a National Anthem performance by 8-year-old singer and actor Malea Emma, and a flyover by the Tiger Squadron. Halftime will feature a parachute jump by the U.S. Army Golden Knights.
Also during Saturday's game, the 2019 NCAA Champion UCLA Softball team will be recognized for bringing UCLA's 118th NCAA Championship trophy back to Westwood. In addition, pitcher Rachel Garcia will be recognized at halftime for earning one of the highest recognitions in all of college sports, the 2019 Honda Cup, given to the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year. Garcia is the fifth Honda Cup winner in UCLA history.
Following the game, 10,000 fans will receive a UCLA Football Schedule Poster upon exiting the Rose Bowl.
